Visit of Hon. Director, ATARI Pune to KVK Buldana-I

In view to review KVK activities and progress of KVK Hon. Director, ATARI Pune Dr. Lakhan Singh has visited KVK Buldana-I on 28th May, 2018 to review activities and progress of KVK. At the outset, Hon. Chairman Mr. Krushnaraoji Ingle welcomes Dr. Lakhan Singh with offering bouquet. Mr. Anil Gabhane, Scientist & In charge head, KVK presented progress report and introduce with current activities of KVK. Hon. Director interacted with KVK team, taken review of work of every scientist and given valuable suggestions. Hon. Director also visited to KVK Instructional Farm, Horticulture farm, Demonstration units viz. Poultry, Goatry, hatchery, nursery, vermi-compost, Azolla unit, kitchen garden, water harvesting structures, Soil Testing Lab (STL) and Home Science unit. Hon. Director interacted with farmers at STL about how to take soil samples and its importance. During this visit, KVK has organized farmer's interaction meeting on IFS module on the farm of Mr. Satish Bhusari of Asalgaon village and interacted with farmers about doubling their income. Hon. Director expressed satisfaction about the work and progress of KVK and given suggestions for future development of KVK for the benefits of farming community.


Cotton Pink Bollworm Management Campaign

In year 2017-18 major out-break of pink boll worm in cotton crop was observed and heavy losses occurred during this year. Near about 70-80% infestation of pink boll worm in cotton was recorded in Buldana district.To overcome this pink boll worm problem and create the awareness among the cotton growers, in 2018-19 KVK Buldana-I organized various activities regarding pink boll worm management in guidance with Dr. PDKV, Akola, ATARI, Pune and in collaboration with State Agriculture Dept. and Private companies etc.
KVK organized number of training programmes, demonstrations, On Farm Trials, various diagnostic visits and activities in collaboration with State Agriculture Dept., ATMA Buldana and private companies. KVK also published 10000 leaflets of pink boll worm management and distributed among the farmers. KVK conducted PBW management workshop 2, trainings 11, demonstrations 5, OFT 2, diagnostic & field visits 72. As an impact of various activities conducted by KVK, cotton growers gained knowledge and adopted various recommended technologies like sowing of short and medium duration varieties, use of pheromone traps, use of light traps for mass trapping of pink boll worm moths, use of neem seed extract with use of recommended pesticides for pink boll worm management.
